Case Studies

Polyseal should be installed only when ambient and substrate temperatures are 40°F (4.4°C) or higher. Remove all dirt, dust, loose nails and debris prior to installing Polyseal.

PolySeal can be installed directly onto approved substrates. Cut the membrane into manageable lengths, typically 10 ft.-12 ft. Align the membrane parallel to the roof edge, extending over the roof eave by 1/4 in. Fold the membrane away from the edge onto itself. Remove the lower half of the release sheet. Place the exposed rubberized asphalt onto the deck, pressing firmly into place. Repeat this process with the upper half of the membrane. Overlapping successive courses by 3 in. End laps should overlap by 6 in.

Details
At valleys, a continuous sheet shall be centered in the valley and overlapped by each course a minimum of 6 in.

When PolySeal is to be adhered to any metal surfaces, priming with asphalt primer meeting ASTM D 41 is recommended.

Material Standard and Compliance
ASTM D-1970 Standard Specification for Self-Adhering Polymer Modified Bituminous Sheet Materials Used as Steep Roofing Underlayment for Ice Dam Protection.
