Rboard® Exterior Wall Insulation
Rboard® is a non-ozone depleting, versatile substrate that can be used behind a variety of exterior cladding.
Rboard® sheathing is a rigid polyiso foam insulation panel with a specially coated and patented facer on both surfaces. It is one of the most cost effective, energy efficient sheathing materials available in the marketplace.
Builders who prefer the strongest available non-reflective faced polyiso insulation choose Rboard® for superior insulation qualities and easy installation. When properly installed, Rboard® wall insulation will provide added insulation and yield immediate energy savings in both Commercial and Residential applications. R-values range from 3.0 to 21.7, depending on thickness.
Rboard received the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute’s highest rating of 4--Highly Resistant to Mold Growth. This GREENGUARD test method is conducted in accordance with ASTM D 6329 and rates materials for susceptibility for microbial growth. Atlas polyiso has been tested for VOC and formaldehyde emissions, in which reported emissions were below the maximum emission levels allowed under both the GREENGUARD and GREENGUARD Schools and Children criteria. These tests confirm that Atlas polyiso insulation materials are all very low-emitting products.

Continuous Insulation
The current International Residential Code calls for continious insulation or insulating sheathing in certain zone climate zones. These requirements will likely be increased and or extended to other climate zones. The next IRC will require the installation of a layer of continuous insulation over the entire edition exterior of walls of many one and two family dwellings. This requirement will provide for a “thermal break” and added R-value to the structure - making the building much more airtight and energy efficient, as compared to current and past required construction.
