Primary Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all safety programs and policies
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and install low and high voltage (single/three phase) industrial electro-mechanical and control systems for production equipment.
  • Install, calibrate, repair, design, construct, adjust,modify, and perform preventative maintenance on all types of electronic equipment
  • Plan new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes
  • Maintain daily shift inspection and repair logs for review by supervision, and other plant personnel
  • Analyze and review wiring diagrams, blueprints and schematics; check to ensure electrical drawings are up-to-date
  • Use various types of meters and test equipment proficiently to allow for sound decision-making in the troubleshooting process
  • Troubleshoot, locate and isolate problems associated with electrical equipment on the lines
  • Maintain plant instrumentation such as heat controllers and recording devices, concentration transmitters, level controls, and flow control devices
  • Observe functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement
  • Work independently in troubleshooting and repair problems with Programmable Logic Controllers and related components when required
  • Be able to obtain back-up PLC programs and repair from a server to reload and reboot PLC programs to restore faulted equipment
  • Provide assistance to mechanical installations as directed
  • Minimal travel required for training, etc, as determined by Supervision
  • Perform daily and down-time cleaning
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance
  • Work mandatory overtime as required

Experience

  • Minimum of four (4) years' experience in an industrial, electrical position, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience using both DC and AC motors, VF drives and controlled systems (Allen Bradley preferred)
  • Background in Programmable Logic Controllers, computer systems and electronics
  • Experience in design, repair, and analysis of electrical systems. Must have exposure to electrical engineering design principles and methodologies.
  • Must be willing to take courses to keep up with advancing technologies

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Able to read, interpret, and modify electrical prints and schematics and document all self-created changes. Proficiency in electrical installations with conduit and wiring practices. Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and looks for ways to improve and promote quality.
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; works well in group problem solving situations; and, uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics
  • Observes safety and security procedures, reports potentially unsafe conditions, and uses equipment properly
  • Consistently at work and on time, remains on duty until relieved or given permission to leave
  • Follow instructions, commits to long hours of work when necessary to reach goals, and completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person as needed
  • Adapts to changes in the work environment; manages competing demands; changes approach or method to best fit the situation; and, able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events
  • Basic understanding of computers
  • Good oral and written communication skills

Education, Licenses & Certification

  • Two (2) year technical degree in electrical engineering, technology, or related field

Additional Information

  • There are varying physical requirements for this job. May be required to lift or carry materials of various sizes and weights
  • Ability to perform frequent bending, climbing, crawling, kneeling, and reaching
  • Ability to stand and/or walk constantly over a full work shift
