Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee safety, quality, service, and cost performance of production, maintenance, and electrical departments.
  • Ensure a safe work environment through strict adherence to Atlas' safety policies and procedures; drive continuous improvement in the areas of safety and housekeeping; know and communicate safety message with focus on developing zero injury culture.
  • Work with Human Resources to select and hire employees; provide coaching and feedback to direct and indirect reports; identify development opportunities to improve overall individual and team performance.
  • Participate in plant leadership meetings to promote positive employee relations, improve communication systems and policies, and support the overall growth and direction of the plant.
  • Work with supervisors and HR as needed to review and perform disciplinary actions as needed; apply labor agreement provisions consistently.
  • Drive the plant preventative maintenance system including PM schedule, work orders, documentation of activities/actions, and parts inventory.
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints regarding product quality and make the necessary changes within the plant operation to prevent future occurrences.
  • Ensure that the process and products comply with all necessary specifications, regulations, and standards.
  • Promote and manage the continuous improvement of the plant by benchmarking operations and researching and implementing new industry advances.
  • Make recommendations for improvements to meet or exceed the production/service demands of our customers.
  • Drive reliability improvement and continuously initiate and implement improvements in manufacturing processes to reduce waste and unplanned downtime; while improving process capability, schedule adherence, etc.
  • Prepare and track departmental budget.
  • Minimal travel to other Atlas’ facilities, customers, vendors, training, and/or offsite meetings.

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years progressive experience in operations and management with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and supervise multiple functions.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Exceptional decision making and analytical ability.
  • Excellent time management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of continuous manufacturing operations, preferably roofing operations.
  • Strong leadership to motivate and direct a large group of employees in a continuous operation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of Safety and Health requirements and standards.
  • Experience and success with a process improvements including utilizing continuous process disciplines such as Six Sigma, Keppner-Tregoe, Lean or equivalent.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, email,and other computer software systems such as CMMS, MRO, etc.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

Education, Licenses & Certification

  • Four (4) year degree in related field from a 4 year college or university preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Information

  • General manufacturing environment: variations in temperature from extreme cold to extreme heat. Hearing protection, safety glasses, safety shoes, and hard hat required in all manufacturing areas.
