Maintenance "B" Mechanic

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work rotating shift schedule and overtime
  • Install, repair, adjust, modify, troubleshoot and perform preventative maintenance on all types of plant equipment and facility
  • Follow all plant and safety rules including all safety Personal Protective Equipment(PPE) requirements
  • Inspect, dismantle, repair, replace, install, clean and assemble as necessary to maintain equipment/buildings as necessary
  • Use various types of meters and test equipment proficiently to allow for sound decision-making in the troubleshooting process; communicate information to maintenance supervision and engineering to assist in analyzing equipment or for the purpose of making equipment modifications
  • Perform pipe installations and repairs in various pipelines
  • Interpret blueprints for equipment information and installation
  • Work with maintenance supervisor to ensure a sufficient level of back up spares for all mechanical equipment
  • Operate torches, welders and burning equipment
  • Maintain daily shift inspection and repair logs for review by supervision, and other plant personnel
  • Travel minimally as needed for training, etc, as determined by Supervision
  • Perform any and all other responsibilities as assigned by Supervision.


  • One (1) year minimum of mechanical experience in a manufacturing environment (one (1) year as a Class “C” Maintenance Mechanic)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to work rotating shift schedule and overtime
  • Ability to solve basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division), and calculate percentages
  • Advanced ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, government regulations
  • Ability to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, employees or the general public
  • Computer skills: Beginner’s Word level (i.e., memos, letters, formatting)
  • Ability to operate power tools, including electrical testing and measuring equipment

Education, Licenses & Certification

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One (1) year minimum mechanical experience in a manufacturing environment
  • One (1) year minimum experience as a Class “C” Maintenance Mechanic
  • Certificate of completion from having successfully completed designated Class “C” Maintenance Mechanic TPC training modules
