Maintenance Technician

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintenance and Repairs.  Perform all preventative maintenance and repair to facilities equipment and delivery equipment.
  • Design and Engineering Support.  Provide engineering and engineering support for repairs, improvements and new equipment projects. 
  • Sourcing.  Source and order parts associated with projects, repairs and maintenance of facility, general maintenance of equipment and delivery equipment.  Comply with all “Accounting” policies and procedures associated with procurement. 
  • Inventory Management.  Participate in organization, management and tracking of inventory items associated with maintenance and repairs.  Provide “Accounting” with required paperwork associated with inventory counts and management. 
  • Project Management.  Management of projects assigned to your leadership.  “Start to finish” planning and execution associated with repairs, improvements and new projects.  Duties are to include design, creating BOM, sourcing, ordering, implementation, establishment of PM procedures, project data collection and documentation.  
  • Data Collection.  Accurate, consistent collection and maintenance of required data.  Organized record keeping.  Utilization of data for decision making an improvement implementation. 
  • Housekeeping and Shop Organization.  Organization of maintenance facility.  Organization, accounting of and security of maintenance tools.  Full compliance with VTI housekeeping and safety policies.


  • Proven experience as a maintenance worker or other similar position

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to read and utilize technical manuals and drawings
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of electrical controls and logic
  • Basic working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, hydraulic, and electrical systems
  • Experience working with tools, including hand and electrical tools
  • Competent in both single and 3 phase wiring
  • Ability to Inspect and troubleshoot various equipment and systems
  • Effectively report to facilities or maintenance manager regarding issues resolved, those needing attention, and those currently in progress
  • Ability to source parts and services as well as develop a bill of materials for larger projects

Education, Licenses & Certification

  • High school diploma or equivalent
