Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide inspection, testing and auditing of all finished products quality and raw materials to ensure they meet Atlas and UL Specifications as required.
  • Performs line audits to assess finished quality and in process quality including temperatures, speed, pressures, etc.
  • Communicates with Supervision and production employees as to quality issues during production process.
  • Inputs data in the computer as to specification requirements.
  • Maintains lab equipment, scales and equipment on the manufacturing floor that are required for quality testing.Responsible for cleaning of testing materials, beakers, SP apparatus, etc. Keeping lab in good working order and tidy.
  • Maintains all color standards at Slate and ensures operator paperwork is available for startup and color change.Maintains drop cups as needed for standard verification.
  • Maintains Color display board for all products.Ensures standards are available and in good physical shape for color verification at start up, shift change and color change.
  • Performs testing for all Scotch Guard Products. Prepares samples for shipment to MDI and ensures data meets requirements during production run.
  • Set up waste water sampling and prepare samples for shipment once per month (day shift).
  • Assists in the design and implementation of new products.
  • Participates in project teams to improve quality, process or performance on roofing products.
  • Assists in the training of production employees; in addition to training QC/Lead & Relief in performing duties related to quality control.
  • Communicates to other lab employees and manager of pertinent information regarding quality and/or production issues.
  • Rotates with other Lab Technicians to assure coverage during roofing production hours.
  • Supervises production employees in the absence of a Production Supervisor.


  • Must be able to pass basic skills assessment in Microsoft Excel.
  • 5 to 7 years’ experience in a manufacturing facility.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Computer skills required in Excel, Word, Google Suite, PeopleSoft, Bizware and other programs exclusive to Quality Assurance.
  • Mathematical skills with an emphasis on statistical processes.
  • Communication skills to effectively converse with Production.
  • Knowledge of the Manufacturing process.

Education, Licenses & Certification

  • High School education or equivalent. Some college or an associate’s degree preferred.

Additional Information

  • This position rotates approximately every 30 days. The shifts are as follows:

          6:00AM - 2:00PM (1st Shift)
          2:00PM - 10:00PM (2nd Shift)
         10:00PM - 6:00AM (3rd Shift)
