Primary Responsibilities

  • Applies relevant methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes
  • Builds quality into the process by working with department managers and supervisors to eliminate quality errors in process
  • Conducts and/or assists with root cause analyses and recommends corrective action where appropriate; Communicates analysis and recommended corrective actions to the appropriate personnel
  • Conducts system capability studies; assists operations in efficiency improvements
  • Coordinates plant trials on new products and raw materials and process of raw material changes
  • Develops and improves processes to prevent quality errors prior to the manufacture of product
  • Proposes corrections for internal or external processes to remove cause of issues or inefficiencies
  • Visits customers and vendors as requested and required
  • Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation.
  • Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities and documents data obtained during all quality assurance activities
  • Enforces safety rules and ensures safety guidelines are being followed; completes incident reports as necessary
  • Communicates any technical/process changes to appropriate facility personnel and provides training to production and maintenance personnel
  • Works with vendors as needed to establish strong partnerships and with continuous improvement efforts
  • Completes any projects as assigned by management
  • Completes required reports, including monthly updates, department statistical tracking, and complaint investigation
  • Conducts relevant meetings
  • Reviews and provides feedback concerning tests of physical properties and deviations from normal
  • Works with department managers, design engineers, maintenance as needed to provide clear work instructions, prints, and correct tooling for production vs. client specifications
  • 10-25% travel required

Experience

  • Proven track record in process improvement and cost reductions
  • Proven experience and success with Lean Manufacturing and 5 S methodologies preferred
  • Experience with 6 Sigma business strategies desired

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to communicate clearly (both orally and written) to personnel from a variety of functional areas
  • Professional presentation to represent Atlas EPS to vendors, contractors, and customers
  • Fluent in English (Reading, Writing, Speaking)
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and government regulations
  • Advanced math skills (Able to do statistical analysis, budgeting and forecasting)
  • Able to use tape measure and calipers
  • Computer skills (Word, Excel, Email, PowerPoint, PeopleSoft and Blocktrack software)
  • Able to analyze costs, benefits, risk and success of a decision
  • Identify concepts and issues of a problem
  • Provides relevant and timely information in a clear manner
  • Services both internal and external customers and provides superior services and value to all customers
  • Generates new ideas and strategies and provides innovative solutions to problems
  • Anticipates what needs to be done and proceeds without direction
  • Motivates and influences others in a positive manner

Education, Licenses & Certification

  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years’ experience in Manufacturing preferred
