The Human Resources Manager is responsible for day-to-day human resource management and interpretation of policies, procedures and programs related to employment, compensation, benefits, performance management, and employee/labor relations.
This position will also drive the organizational development process, serve as an employee advocate, manage employee relations and communications, and ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and corporate requirements within the function.
Ensure a safe work environment through strict adherence to Atlas’ safety policies and procedures. Know and communicate safety message with focus on developing zero injury culture.
Act as a liaison between Operations and HR to ensure HR services are aligned with the needs of the business. Identify new opportunities where HR can add value to the business.
Investigate employee relations issues. Analyze information from various sources and examine potential risks, draw conclusions/solutions and ensure actions are legally compliant and in accordance with company values.
Compile, prepare, and distribute Employee Handbook which includes plant specific programs, including, Attendance, Drug and Alcohol Policy, Plant Rules and Regulations, Accident Reporting, etc.
Assist Plant Manager and Department Managers in maintaining day-to-day union management relationships to improve morale and assist management in carrying out leadership responsibilities.
Review disciplinary issues with management to identify best progressive discipline options, up to and including termination. As needed, recommend alternative paths to managers in the event disciplinary action proposed is not appropriate and/or supported by proper documentation.
Facilitate job requisition and pre-employment process, conduct interviews, make hiring and salary recommendations and manage new employee hiring process.
Administer the local Workers' Compensation program and management of relationship with company panel health care providers, if applicable.
Manage OSHA reporting per corporate requirements and participate in the plants EH&S program.
Manage specific projects as determined in the annual HR plan and participate in functional and cross-functional initiatives. Participate in corporate HR project teams and programs and coordinate community involvement.
Assist with Company’s healthcare initiatives: facilitate open enrollment meetings, distribute annual notices, and enter employee data in benefit provider sites for hires, status changes, and terminations.
Maintain professional relationships with employees and community, union representatives, and various organizations to assure company goodwill.
Progressive experience in human resources field.
Manufacturing environment experience in unionized facility(ies) preferred.
10-hour OSHA compliance course.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong ability in using MS Office, databases, and HR computer software.
Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills.

Education, Licenses & Certification
Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in related field; or, equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
PHR/SHRM-CP certification highly preferred.
General office environment. Personal protective equipment required in warehouse and manufacturing environments.
Frequently required to talk, hear, sit, and use hand to finger (key or write), handle, or feel.
Occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
