Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process weekly payrolls for multiple states.
  • Accurately process data for new hires, terminations, rate changes, position changes, etc.
  • Maintain employee leave balances, benefit payroll deductions, and garnishments.
  • Run and provide payroll reports to appropriate team members.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and irregularities.
  • Assist with verification of employment requests.
  • Assist with HRIS system maintenance.
  • Assist with delivery of requested documentation during audits.
  • Comply with local, state and federal payroll regulations.
  • Coordinate, track and report completion of various employee required tasks.
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect HR and payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Assist with Human Resources department projects.
  • Other tasks as requested by Payroll Manager.
  • Support HR team and company hiring managers with the hiring process and onboarding of new employees and contractors.
  • Provide HRIS and Kronos timesheet support to employees and managers.
  • Assist with off-boarding process for terminated employees.
  • Collect and validate employee data for input into the payroll system for pay calculation. (PeopleSoft 9.2)
  • Administer the reporting and payment processes required to reimburse or set up the receivables from the employee
  • Administer federal mandated new hire reporting.
  • Data entry and excel spreadsheets as assigned by the Payroll Manager.
  • Verify the payroll and calculation results.
  • Administer the processes to issue the physical paychecks.
  • Generate the payroll tax file and verify mandated returns and remittances for all employees and the employer payroll taxes.
  • Assist in planning, development, and implementation of department programs.
  • Troubleshoot and analyze payroll system functions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Organize and maintain payroll activities.
  • Assist outside agencies with information requests


  • 5+ years experience of multi state payroll processing experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of payroll and payroll tax processes
  • Manufacturing payroll experience preferred
  • PeopleSoft version 9, Kronos and ADP experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong verbal & written communication skills
  • Must be proficient at Microsoft Office Excel and Word
  • Proficiency in system reporting, data management and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of payroll principles, practices, regulations and procedures
  • Knowledge of applicable state and federal payroll and related tax regulations, legislation and guidelines including, but not limited to: writs of garnishment, child support and levies
  • Knowledge of the practice, methods and techniques of process improvement
  • Skill in researching, evaluating and analyzing technical payroll activities
  • Ability to manage complex and competing priorities, attentive to detail and highly organized
  • Ability to provide superior customer service to customers internal/external

Education, Licenses & Certification

  • High School Diploma and at least five years of payroll processing and/or accounting related experience and/or training
