Primary Responsibilities

  • The position is directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of the human resource function including interpretation of policies, procedures, and programs related to employment, recruiting, compensation, benefits, performance management, and employee relations for the Shingles and Underlayments and Web Technology divisions. 
  • Ensure a safe work environment through strict adherence to Atlas' safety policies and procedures.  Know and communicate safety message with focus on developing zero injury culture.
  • Identify and drive the communication and sharing of best practices across the division to facilitate continuous improvement.
  • Act as a liaison between Sales and Operations and the HR Centers of Excellence to ensure HR services are aligned with the needs of the business. Identify new opportunities where HR can add value to the business.
  • Investigate employee relations issues.  Analyze information from various sources and examine potential risks, draw conclusions/solutions, and ensure actions are legally compliant and in accordance with company values.
  • Compile, prepare, and distribute Employee Handbook including attendance, drug and alcohol, rules and regulations, and accident reporting, etc.
  • Review disciplinary issues with management to identify best progressive discipline options, up to and including termination. As needed, recommend alternative paths to managers in the event disciplinary action proposed is not appropriate and/or supported by proper documentation.
  • Facilitate job requisition and pre-employment process, conduct interviews, make hiring and salary recommendations, and manage the new employee hiring process.
  • Administer the division workers' compensation program and management of relationship with company panel health care providers, if applicable.
  • Manage OSHA reporting per corporate requirements.
  • Manage specific projects as determined by the CHRO and participate in functional and cross-functional initiatives. Participate in HR project teams and programs and coordinate community involvement.
  • Ensure data entry is completed accurately and timely in PeopleSoft and benefit provider website systems; audit systems annually.
  • Assist with Company's healthcare initiatives: facilitate open enrollment meetings, distribute annual notices, and enter employee data in benefit provider sites for hires, status, changes, and terminations.
  • Maintain professional relationships with employees and community, and various organizations to assure company goodwill.
  • Rewrites job descriptions as necessary.
  • Ensure legal compliance throughout human resources function.
  • Out-of-state and overnight travel may be required.

Experience

  • A minimum of seven to eight years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources positions
  • Union experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Evidence of the ability to practice human resources with confidentiality, objectivity, and integrity.
  • Knowledge and experience in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, recruitment, organization development, employee relations, safety, employee engagement and employee development. 
  • Very strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a knowledgeable resource to the division senior management team that provides overall company leadership and direction.
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows Suite environment.  Familiarity with ADP talent, succession and recruiting management modules are a plus.
  • Thorough knowledge of pertinent and relevant employment laws and practices and experience working with a corporate employment law attorney.
  • Experience in the administration of benefits and compensation programs and other Human Resources recognition and engagement programs and processes.  

Education, Licenses & Certification

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business, or related field
  • HR certification (PHR, CP, AIRS, etc.) certification highly preferred
