Primary Responsibilities

  • Act in a consultative leadership and strategic partnership role with AMP Sales and Operations and the HR Centers of Excellence to ensure HR services are aligned with the needs of the business. Identify new opportunities where HR can add value to the business.
  • Investigate employee relations issues. Analyze information from various sources and examine potential risks, draw conclusions/solutions, and ensure actions are legally compliant and in accordance with company values.
  • Review disciplinary issues with management to identify best progressive discipline options, up to and including termination. As needed, recommend alternative paths to managers in the event disciplinary action proposed is not appropriate and/or supported by proper documentation.
  • Facilitate job requisition and pre-employment process, conduct interviews, make hiring and salary recommendations, and manage new employee hiring process.
  • Implement and coordinate people strategies and processes (i.e. performance development, compensation planning, succession planning, talent management, retention) that help deliver results.
  • Responsible for the growth and development of indirect and direct reports.
  • 10-20% out-of-state and overnight travel may be required

Experience

  • Five (5) to eight (8) years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources positions

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge and experience with mergers and acquisitions is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, recruitment, organization development, employee relations, safety, employee engagement, and employee development.
  • Outstanding interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching skills.
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Must include knowledge of Excel and skills in PeopleSoft. Familiarity with ADP talent, succession and recruiting management modules are a plus.
  • General knowledge of pertinent and relevant employment laws and practices and experience working with a corporate employment law attorney.

Education, Licenses & Certification

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business, or related field
  • HR certification (PHR, CP, AIRS, etc.) certification highly preferred
