Primary Responsibilities

Safety

  • Maintain and grow safety culture for the plant. Lead by example with Atlas safety core values.
  • Encourages and directs personnel to assure safety practices
  • Identifies and communicates to appropriate personnel concerns regarding safety policies or unsafe working conditions. Takes immediate action, if necessary, to prevent unsafe work condition(s) from resulting in injury
  • Ensures overall operation performs in a safe manner

 Schedule and Production Line Operation                              

  • Maintains production schedule, capacity plan and other forecasting techniques
  • Ensures that production efficiency targets are met
  • Maintains proper relationship between management and employee, ensuring that all personnel policies, procedures, and interaction management techniques are followed
  • Identifies training needs
  • Handles training, discipline, motivation and has input of hiring and termination of all hourly employees
  • Counsels and instructs subordinates on their assigned responsibilities and assures that their actions are in accordance with existing procedures and policies.  Holds meetings with subordinates regularly to review problems, train, and cover policy, procedures, process or operation changes
  • All other duties as assigned
  • Regular, consistent physical attendance

Process and Quality Control

  • Ensures line is operated within Atlas specifications
  • Maintains competitive materials testing program
  • Coordinates with Corporate Technical Department in development of new processes and/or procedures.
  • Maintain all lab testing equipment
  • Coordinates customer complaints
  • Ensures final product conforms to established quality standards
  • Communicates any technical /process changes to the plant manager
  • Coordinates UL and FM plant inspections
  • Maintains all quality control tests are performed within established Atlas guidelines
  • Coordinates plant trials on new products, process or raw material changes
  • Ensure that active log is kept of all certificates of analysis and lab test results
  • Maintain active formulation manuals for both roofing and sheathing products as provided by Division Technical Manager.  Complete documentation and notify Plant Manager and Technical Manager (R&D) of all major formulation changes one (1) working day prior to implementation.  Maintain an archive file on all formulations used.

 Raw Materials Purchasing

  • Manages/coordinates planning, scheduling, ordering, receiving of raw materials
  • Uploads production schedule and coordinates facer planning with receiver/purchaser
  • Oversees QC Tech with receiving of raw material

Raw Materials and Finished Goods Inventory Control

  • Works with Accounting Department daily and monthly to reconcile and report data

Travel Requirement

  • Occasional trips to corporate offices, other Atlas plants, customers, or vendors for seminars, meetings and training

Experience

  • Five years manufacturing experience
  • Supervisor and/or Management experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • PC literate, including Word, Excel, Kronos, Email and PeopleSoft at an Intermediate level
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to work mathematical concepts, such as probability and statistics.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to forecasting and other practical situations.
  • Ability to learn quickly, retain information and adjust to rapid changes
  • Ability to use advanced communication and interpersonal skills, both oral and written, to communicate with a wide variety of personnel and functional areas

Education, Licenses & Certification

  • Associates Degree required
  • Valid driver’s license
