Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe work environment through strict adherence to Atlas’ safety policies and procedures.  Drive continuous improvement in the areas of safety and housekeeping.  Know and communicate safety message with focus on developing zero injury culture.
  • Lead, direct, manage, coach, and counsel Quality Technicians to ensure the products produced meet the required specifications.
  • Recruit, interview, and select staff that have the right technical abilities and skills.  Ensure workforce is trained in respective job duties.
  • Support concurrent engineering efforts by participating in product development projects.
  • Responsible for the testing of raw materials (Latex, glass mat, etc.) and all finished products. Also including disposal of any waste or defective products.
  • Responsible for insuring the audit of production processes at each line operator station and the input of computer data.  This includes the input of downtime data as well as the input of Raw Material Receivers for the Purchasing System. 
  • Maintain safety programs with the help of Corporate Safety Manager.
  • Responsible for processing and analyzing material claims and customer complaints.
  • Wide variety of supplier and customer reports.
  • Responsible for all Quality Lab equipment, calibrations and processes.
  • Maintains contact with company personnel at all levels including Hourly, Management, Sales, Customers, and Vendors
  • Coordinate projects with other departments.
  • Travel, as required, to other Atlas’ facilities, claim visits, customers, vendors, and suppliers.  Overnight travel to customers and suppliers as necessary.
  • Ability to work outside normal business hours to support continuous operations. 


  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in quality a fast-paced manufacturing/warehouse environment.
  • CQE or CQM from ASQ or equivalent preferred.
  • Extensive product knowledge required to make determinations of product quality including root cause analysis of product deficiencies.
  • Significant amount of financial accountability due to decisions affecting the acceptance of supplier materials and the rejection or downgrading of finished products.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, including: macros, pivot tables, charts, statistical and financial analysis.
  • Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, and, present information and effectively communicate with groups of managers, customers, employees, and/or general public.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to bring about consensus in areas of conflict.
  • Takes responsibility to resolve customer issues; responds to customer requests in a timely manner.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to accept feedback and deal calmly and effectively with high stress situations.
  • Sensitivity to other’s needs, positive demeanor and model change management for the business.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in fast-paced environment.

Education, Licenses & Certification

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in related field from a 4 year college or university preferred

Additional Information

  • EHS responsibilities as assigned.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and occasionally reach, climb stairs, knell, balance, push/pull, crawl/crouch, climb heights/ladders/scaffold, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to conduct field inspections including ascending/descending ladders, at vendor/customer sites.
  • Must be able to tolerate industrial/manufacturing environment to include: variations in temperature from extreme cold to extreme heat; wet and/or humid conditions; dust/fumes/chemical exposure; and, noise intensity.
  • Personal protective equipment required.
  • Work requires good hearing, vision, speaking, color vision, finger dexterity skills, physical ability to access heights, and occasional physical labor requiring abilit to operate heavy machinery.
