Primary Responsibilities

  • Compile data and prepare a variety of reports as requested by management.
  • Answer incoming phone calls, respond to routine inquiries, and assist callers by obtaining requested information.
  • Maintain and file accounting records using manual and electronic filing systems.
  • Reconcile inventory and production reports.
  • Maintain Excel spreadsheets by daily updating accounting information.
  • Prepare, mail, and/or fax invoices to customers.
  • Key customer credits and rebates.
  • Cross train and provide backup to other positions in the accounting department.
  • Interact with the Accounting Manager, Production Superintendents, and Account Executives to ensure accounting function is managed properly.
  • Responsible for verifying accuracy of timecards, pay rates, job codes, data entry, and processing of payroll for plant hourly employees.
  • Record interplant shipments and receipts.
  • Reconcile asset and liability general ledger accounts to balance with plant operations.
  • Assist with plant’s month end and year end general ledger closing activities.

Experience

  • Two years’ experience in accounting and computer based accounting system preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proficient in Microsoft office Excel and PeopleSoft or related ERP software.
  • Use of 10 key calculator for mathematical processes.
  • Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to work with all levels of management.
  • Confidential treatment of department information.
  • Ability to discern, evaluate, and analyze deviations from normal operating parameters.

Education, Licenses & Certification

  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) in accounting preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Information

  • General office environment.  Personal protective equipment required when in manufacturing areas.
  • Must be able to constantly sit, flex/extend wrist, and/or twist/turn/tilt neck.
  • Must be able to occasionally stand, walk, and lift, carry, push/pull up to 10 pounds.
  • Repetitive computer and administrative tasks require constant hand activity, including: gripping/grasping, writing and/or typing.
  • Must have following sensory functions: color vision, hearing, and speech.
  • Fast paced environment.
  • Irregular and long hours may be required.
