Primary Responsibilities

  • Provides effective purchasing for the facility while obtaining best value considering price, value-in-use, selection of supplies, appropriate delivery dates, and assistance in maintaining proper inventory levels.
  • Purchase all materials and services for the facility to meet operational requirements.
  • Negotiates prices and places purchase orders on materials and supplies as required for operations.
  • Updates computer system on material costs, purchase order information and delivery information.
  • Consults with maintenance, engineering and operation departments to determine best materials, material substitution, inventory control, and value-in-use on normal purchases, and initiates action required to resolve plant emergency purchases.
  • Interviews supplier representatives and represents Atlas in supplier-vendor relationships. Arranges for and takes part in discussions between vendors and operating/engineering personnel, as required.
  • Schedules and conduct vendor audits
  • Participate on teams on an as needed basis to support plant operations.

Experience

  • Minimum three (3) years' experience managing purchasing function in a manufacturing environment.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Problem Solving. Ability to think through issues and develop solutions in a timely manner. Sound troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills. Possess the ability to work under pressure with deadlines.
  • Must be able to speak fluent English.
  • Advanced arithmetic and statistical abilities.
  • Advanced reasoning ability. Ability to read and interpret policies, procedures and contracts. Ability to present information and respond to questions from customers and all levels of management.
  • Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, internet, email and MRP/ERP systems.
  • Excellent time management skills.

Education, Licenses & Certification

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) certification preferred.
