Contractors Have a Chance to Win a Fully Refurbished Pickup Truck

As part of its 40th anniversary celebration this year, Atlas Roofing Corporation is hosting an Asphalt Life Truck Giveaway. This time, the grand prize is a fully refurbished 1982 Chevy Silverado — with the model year honoring the year Atlas was founded.

And what better way to kick off truck giveaway than at the 2022 International Roofing Expo (IRE), where the grand prize will be on display at Booth 1537, aka the “Atlas Lodge.”

Painted red and black, the 1982 Chevy Silverado features custom black leather seats with red-embroidered Atlas logos, a roll bar with KC Lights, and a brand-new Bluetooth stereo.

Throughout this year, contractors can earn points, which will qualify them for a chance to win the truck, by:

  • Registering Atlas warranties
  • Attending Atlas-sponsored events
  • Reaching AtlasPRO+ and PRO+ Select status(es)
  • Interacting with Atlas on social media
  • Creating homeowner testimonials
  • Purchasing reports via the Atlas Portal (EagleView/HailTrace)

Beginning in February, Atlas will begin randomly selecting winners for a variety of weekly prizes. Then, at the end of the giveaway promotion period, 10 semi-finalists will be chosen for an all-expenses-paid, 3-day/2-night trip to IRE 2023, where one of them will become the new owner of the fully refurbished 1982 Chevy Silverado.

In the Red

Previously, Atlas gave away a vehicle for its 2018 Asphalt Life Truck Sweepstakes, in which David Smith, owner of DKS Roofing in Douglasville, GA, won a 1951 Chevy 3100 pickup, painted factory Swift Red, featuring an exclusive five-window cab, all the optional chrome and stainless trim, solid-steel frame, and fully rebuilt engine.

Smith, a 33-year industry veteran, said, as a believer, he immediately claimed the truck. “I said, ‘Lord, if anybody has the opportunity to win it, might as well be us.’ I never spoke to that truck as if it wasn’t already mine. I never spoke any differently. That was my truck.”

However, just weeks before the event, Smith was hospitalized for A-fib and didn’t think he was going to make the trip to Nashville. But he pressed through, “and low and behold, we won the truck,” he said.

“I told [my fellow semi-finalists] on the last day we were there, I said, ‘You know, I’ll be honest with y’all... If you ever get a chance to do this again, it’s really more fun to win.”

Today, Smith still has the exclusively garage-kept truck and enjoys driving it on the weekends. He originally planned to take it to car shows and put it in parades, but his schedule hasn’t quite cooperated yet.

“Anytime I drive it, it’s a showstopper,” he said. “I’ve had people follow me to the gas station to ask me what year it is. I can’t tell you the countless pictures that have been taken in front of the truck.”

Smith said the only modifications he’s made to the truck were adding his company’s branding on the sides, and he’s currently swapping out its 6V for a 12V. Down the road, he plans to add power steering, as well as a/c for those sticky Georgia summers.

“Whoever wins the new truck,” he said, “it’s an awesome feeling.”
